Medtronic CRHF Device Embedded Systems is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer II to join our RD Organization to design and test software for implantable medical devices.

Medtronics Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure (CRHF) division is looking for a motivated engineer to be part of a high-performing team that is revolutionizing the design and development of medical devices. In this role, you will leverage your technical breadth and innovation skills to accelerate the development, reduce cost and increase product quality for Medtronics device portfolio. The work you do will impact patients globally and help support Medtronics mission of alleviating pain, restoring health, and extending life for millions.


Candidates must be able to: define requirements, design and verify embedded medical device software via design control procedures used within the medical device industry. A successful candidate is self-motivated, works well both independently and in team environment.

**A DAY IN THE LIFE**

The candidate must have the ability to work well with a variety of individuals ranging from various engineering disciplines (systems, electrical, and software) to marketing, clinical, reliability, regulatory and manufacturing.

Develop and test software as part of a system, document and troubleshoot issues, and work with instrument and hardware functions.

Use a variety of software troubleshooting tools including OTS and custom-built.

Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of such engineering applications and wide range of products.


**MUST HAVE**

Bachelors degree with 2+ years of experience or Advanced degree with 0+ years of experience required


**DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**

Degree in engineering (Electrical, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering)

Masters degree in engineering program or 1+ years of embedded software design experience

Embedded software development in C/C++ language

Experience working with embedded systems, interpreting specifications

Ability to write and interpret test scripts in C+ Must be able to work with minimal supervision

Ability to work in a team environment; strong collaboration skills

Effective verbal and written communication

Specific knowledge of embedded systems

Specific knowledge of implantable medical devices

Specific knowledge of Bluetooth

Experience in working in Windows and Linux environments

Experience with real-time operating systems


**PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS**

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be independently mobile. The employee is also required to interact with a computer and communicate with peers and co-workers.
