As part of the Global Sustaining Engineering team, the Manufacturing Engineer II will work with cross-functional teams leading/supporting low to high complexity cost savings projects, manufacturing process improvements, quality issues and product redesigns. The engineer will lead or be involved in the forefront of technology and innovation to bring ideas to fruition.

The Manufacturing Engineer II will not only need to follow but develop companys best practices and standard procedures. They will provide direction to other cross functional team members to ensure projects deliverables are met. This person must be able to communicate technically with key stakeholders and develop product and process expertise and support troubleshooting at manufacturing sites and complete activities per compliance requirements and per committed schedule.

**A Day in the Life**

Accountable for leading teams and delivering projects on time and to budget.

Project Engineering lead for activities in accordance with standard operating procedures.

Key participant in DFMEA, PFMEA, and CTQ processes assuring specifications are well defined and documented.

Interface with RD, Customers, Marketing, and Suppliers to discover and trial new raw materials or production processes with the intent of improving performance or quality, reducing cost, and improving manufacturing efficiencies.

Keep current with technology/engineering advances to deliver best available technology to the project

Effectively manage projects, coordinate activities and communicate progress to key stakeholders within Medtronic

Partner with Medtronics supply base to create and evaluate potential value improvement opportunities

Assure production requirements are achieved for component and assembly tooling specifications, supplier selection, and qualification.

Communicate and coordinate activities with multiple functional groups both within and outside of operations.

Department Specific/Non-Essential Functions:

Directly manage engineers on project and provide required guidance to ensure set deliverables are met and obstacles are overcome.

Review project proposals to ensure feasibility and provide comments.

Continue to enhance engineering and leadership skills through additional training and education.

**Must Have**

Bachelors Degree with 2+ years of experience or Advanced Degree with 0+ years of experience.

**Nice to Have**

Dynamic, positive attitude

Strong communication and drive for results

Solid design, troubleshooting and presentation skills

Strong project management skills

Well versed in injection molding, stamping and machining methods

Experience in assembly equipment technologies

Working knowledge of Six Sigma

Working knowledge of GDT

Working knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, and Risk Tools

Working knowledge of DFA/ DFM principles

Sets the standard for timeliness, work ethic, and personal integrity

Strong project management capabilities with experience in medical process validations preferred

Team player - ability to effectively interact with all disciplines

Self-starter - ability to interpret critical aspects of information received from multiple sources

SolidWorks, Office Suite

Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma certification

Knowledge of FDA Quality Systems Regulations and ISO Quality Systems
