As a Principal IT Business Systems Analyst, you will support the maintenance and expansion of the Medtronic Advanced Publishing System (MAPS
XD). MAPS XD is a Global Content
Management System (GCMS) that integrates authoring, translating and automated
composition of technical communication deliverables in approximately 40
languages. This role includes gathering
and performing technical analysis of user requirements, creating and
documenting designs that can be developed and tested to meet the requirements,
and documenting traceability to requirements of such solutions.

**Dayin the Life:**

+ User requirements Ensure that CMS user requirements are wellunderstood, documented, and approved.Plan, conduct, and direct the analysis of complex technicalcommunications problems to be solved using CMS.Provide consultation to CMS users.

+ Software design Work with CMS users and CMS software engineersto design and document solutions to business needs and CMS users needs. Provide technical assistance in identifying,evaluating, and developing systems and procedures that are cost-effective andmeet user requirements.

+ Document analysis Perform business and technical analysis ofproposed document types / titles, to ensure that new document types / titlesbeing put into CMS are well thought out, all differences are identified andnegotiated, and all resulting commitments are documented and well understood.

+ Testing Help perform unit testing of CMS prototype software, toensure that the design requirements were fully understood and that theresulting CMS software meets the design need. Participate in planning unit,integration, and acceptance testing of CMS software.

+ Documentation Ensure that complete and accurate documentation iscreated for all CMS software design and development needs. Create specifications for CMS to meetbusiness requirements.

+ System administration Configure system settings and options.

+ User support Provide second-tier support for CMS users. Help determine corrective and preventiveactions for CMS user support issues.Sometimes lead cross-functional linked teams to address business or systemsissues.

**Responsibilitiesmay include the following and other duties may be assigned.**

+ Consults with business stakeholders to understand and evaluatecurrent business processes and identify complex business problems and needsturning those needs into system requirements.

+ Provides technical expertise for system functional specificationsand deploys new and current systems, processes and procedures in a costeffective manner.

+ May configure system settings and options; plan and execute unit,system, and integration testing to meet business requirements.

+ May lead cross-functional linked teams to address business orsystems issues.

**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelors degree required

+ Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

**Nice to Have**

+ Experience in single-source/database publishing

+ Knowledge of technical writing profession and tools

+ Knowledge of page layout, typography, and desktop publishingsoftware

+ Knowledge of graphics file formats and PDF handling

+ Experience with online documentation and help systems

+ Experience in and familiarity with audit compliance process in aregulated environment

+ Experience with XML

+ Familiarity with XSL

+ Experience with designing SQL queries and working with SQLdatabases in general

+ Familiarity with Java

+ Experience with build/deployment automation tools such as Jenkins
