**A Day in the Life**

The Surgical Robotics Team is seeking to fill a PrincipalManufacturing Engineering position, reporting to the Sr Principal Engineer. You will be part of a team maintaining production of the new Robotics platform as it launches and goes through production scale-up at the Contract Manufacturing site. As a k ey member of the team interfacing and coordinating with the Contract Manufactures, you will maintain productproduction, supporting quality investigations, processing changes, reviewing capacity analysis, capital investments, cost down and process validations.

You will:

+ Identifiy, in conjunction with leadership, process and system deficiencies, opportunities and recommend solutions

+ Leador supportinitiatives in all product manufacturing aspects: Cost reduction, quality improvement, Service/Repair, Process Improvement, Documentation

+ Developand actively utilizes project charters, project calendars, task lists, and meetings agendas and objectives over the course of projects assigned to

+ Documentand analyzeinformation and data as needed to make programs successful and communicate with a wide variety of audiences

+ Identifyand workto remove barriers that slow or prevent the successful completion of projects and portfolios assigned to. Actively enlists leadership and as needed to assist with barriers

+ Create and maintainexcellent working relationships within the teams assigned, and across Medtronic functions and departments

+ ProvideDesign for Manufacturability guidance to RD Engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques

+ Gatherand analyzemanufacturing metrics and works closely with Quality organization to define appropriate process changes

+ Usestatistical techniques tocompile and analyze data and realize appropriate improvement initiatives. Improve productivity and optimize process capability through technical assessment and analytical challenge

+ Workclosely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to coordinate product changes

+ Administer Process Development and Validation function within the manufacturing facility. Ensurecurrent validation status on manufacturing processes, develop trained validation resources in all manufacturing departments and prevent excessive validation-related delays in product release

+ Establish part metrology fixturing, processes, procedures

+ Project Management of projects to include Time Line, Budgets, Execution, Training, and Risk assessments

+ Assist in the development of Medtronic long range goals and plans for process improvement cost savings

+ Drive / support CM to meet agreed upon KPIs

+ Cross functional meetings focused on process simplification and changes to reduce overall costs

+ Planning with RD phased introductions to minimize obsolesce costs as new designs are introduce

+ Lead meetings with Contract Manufacturers to review performance, yield issues and end of life risks and planning

+ Review process validation plans

+ Meet with RD and Sourcing to drive and support VAVE, alternative suppliers, process and materials to minimize costs

+ Initiate project plan review on milestone achieved, risk analysis and associated mitigations to maintain project schedule.

**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelors degree required

+ Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

**Nice to Have**

+ 10+ years experience in operations or engineering with 5 + yearsexperience working in the robotics industry or medical capital goods manufacturing.

+ Solid understanding of Engineering, Project Management, Lean Principles, Six Sigma, Financial acumen.

+ Experience with industrial engineering processes including takt/cycle times estimates, process flow, line layout, capacity planning.

+ Project Management of manufacturing process from concept to delivery.

+ Ability to prepare written policies, procedures, proposal, and reports.

+ Knowledgeable in risk management methodologies such as DFMEA and PFMEA.

+ Process knowledge, Electro/Mechanical assembly, Metal Injection Molding, Plastic injection molding, CNC and CMM.

+ Expert in change control process
