**Principal Development (RD)Engineer Electrical Systems**


As a **Principal RDDevelopment Engineer** , you will design and develop life-saving medical
device products. Key responsibilities include product development, conducting
product testing and creating models and prototypes. You will actively seek out
Voice of the Customer (VOC) input and translate that into product requirements and
design specifications, and perform clinical and preclinical assessments.You will work under general direction in a
project role and may serve as key functional core team member and/or leadership
role in an extended team. The product focus will be on electrical systems
used in conjunction with vascular devices.


**A DAY IN THE LIFE**


+ Design and redesign medium to high complexity electronicmedical devices and subsystems.

+ Test and optimize the design by designing and conductingrelevant experiments and evaluations including numerical verification.

+ Prepare full documentation in accordance with relevantinternal SOPs and Design Control.

+ Participate in pre-clinical in vivo labs, observingcases in hospitals and through planned and unplanned customerinteractions.

+ Create and evaluate prototypes to generate concept andmodel approvals.

+ Write engineering reports and create presentations asrequired to document and communicate results.

+ Prepare reports, presentations and spreadsheets of ananalytical and interpretative nature.

+ Institute design changes based on internal and externalcustomer feedback.

+ Collaborate with peers to manage the development ofappropriate testing to verify product meets internal and external customerrequirements.

+ Maintain accountability to the completion of specificprograms and projects in accordance to agreed project deliverables.

+ Contribute inventions, new designs and techniquesregarded as advances in the medical and technical/scientific community.

+ Use advanced techniques to anticipate, identify anddevelop solutions or alternatives to a variety of common and uncommonproblems having a range of complexity.

+ Provide leadership, training and mentorship to lessexperienced team members.

+ Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multipletasks/projects with a strong problem solving ability.

+ Adhere to safety policy procedures.


**MUST HAVE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**


+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering, scientific, or technicaldiscipline and 7+ years experience or an advanced degree and 5+ yearsexperience


**STRONGLY PREFERRED**


+ Thorough understanding of medical device industry and regulatoryrequirements for class II and Class III devices. Working knowledge ofother related disciplines.

+ In-depth knowledge of designing electrical systems foruse in medical devices.

+ Electronic device packaging and sterilizationexperience.

+ Design of electronic device interfaces for customer easeof use.

+ Thorough understanding of clinical and regulatorypathways, IP and internal processes.

+ Demonstrated ability to take initiative in keepingcurrent with technology developments in specialized area.

+ In depth knowledge and wide application of technicalprinciples, theories, and concepts in related field of expertise todevelop innovative approaches to work

+ In-depth clinical knowledge for uses of product.

+ Ability to effectively communicate and workcooperatively with others as a lead member of a team.

+ Demonstrated experience sharing information, status,needs, and issues with others in order to inform, gain input, and supportdecision-making.


**NICE TO HAVE**


+ Experience with vascular products

+ Experience in neurological products
