You will be a key member of Medtronics Surgical Robotics RD sustaining team, working to support the design of our first-generation robot about to launch around the globe.As the Sr. Product Engineer, RD Sustaining youll be an integral part of teams supporting Medtronics flagship surgical robot, Hugo. You will be a critical member of projects related to enhancements, cost down, and component end-of-life issues in a very visible and fast-paced role.

The Medical Surgical business unit set the standard for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) by creating innovative surgicalproducts and services that focus on obesity and diseases and conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, lung,abdominal wall, pelvic region, and the head and neck.


**A Day in the Life**


This position will be based out of Medtronics campus in North Haven CT and reports to the Sr. Director of RD Sustaining.


Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are critical to success in this role, as is the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with the project management office, Medtronic engineers, and our contract manufacturing site. This person will be able to dive in deep technically, but also able to see the broader needs of the business and the surgical robotics organization.


**You will:**


+ Key central communications point for all project related activity

+ Tracking spending against budget

+ Assessing timeline impacts against project schedule

+ Work with engineers to develop a deep understanding of the technological underpinnings of the system

+ Action item follow up

+ Creation of purchase reqs

+ Delivery of meeting minutes


**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**


+ Bachelors degree required

+ Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience


**Nice to have:**


+ Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or related field required, advanced degree preferred.

+ 5-8 years of experience required

+ Experience with highly regulated and/or safety-critical systems is required (medical device experience strongly preferred)

+ Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

+ Strong leadership skills

+ Comfortable working in a fast passed, cross disciplinary environment

+ Ability to discuss technical details with engineering staff, the ideal candidate will have a strong engineering and product development background.

+ Ability to create and track a project budget and timeline
