**A Day in the Life**

As the Sr. Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you will negotiate Statement of Work (SOW) and short term contracts that secure favorable terms in relation to the procurement of goods and materials. Identify, evaluate and develop supplier options and suitability to perform outsourced activities, projects and programs. Acquire and maintain understanding of marketplace trends, market forces, cost trends, and supplier technology road maps.


Support the strategic programs in product development and strategic sourcing initiatives. Assist in the development of systems to advance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Advanced Sourcing Department. Support with new employee training. Research and recommend new innovative technologies to improve component quality and lower overall cost.


You will participate on new product development teams as the core team procurement representative, or an extended team member in order to meet the overall objectives of the business.


You will follow the Sourcing Strategy to meet NPD Project timelines ensure capacity and deliver material cost targets and coordinate with Category Management to ensure any new suppliers are vetted and fit the overall category strategy.


You will:


+ Lead Advanced Sourcing activities in the NPD Core Team for projects including setting direction, measuring suppliers ability to meet timelines and capacity in support of the NPD project and launch.

+ Develop Suppliers competency levels to ensure performance to NPD needs.

+ Responsible for Project Management of the NPD Sourcing Activity.

+ Manage sourcing timelines and components cost requirements to ensure new product launch commitments are met.

+ Ensure supplier resources are aligned based on project complexity.

+ Collaboratively coordinates with key functional core team members with supplier engagements and product development. Includes MITG AME, PMO, QA/QE, Regulatory and RD.

+ Work with key functions to ensure material development strategies are aligned with the business unit and manufacturing objectives.

+ Manage inventory scale up requirements for new product launch requirements through the MITG Sourcing Group.

+ Prepare and present project updates and monitors group key performance indicators/metrics. TTL / TTM / COGS

+ Consult with Engineering, Marketing, Planning, and Manufacturing to develop appropriate product introduction plans.

+ Participate in supplier evaluations and quality audits as inputs to the supplier selection matrix.

+ Recommend standard costs for new components and assemblies to insure accurate costing of Medtronic MITG products utilizing Should-Cost modeling and Make vs. Buy analysis.

+ Use knowledge of financial analysis to evaluate supplier risk, make/buy alternatives and lease/buy options.

+ Maintain component responsibility from receipt of requisition, placement of orders, change orders, receipt of parts, acceptance of parts to stock, and disposition of discrepant material through transition to the plant procurement team.

+ Contact suppliers, obtains and evaluates quotations, places orders, and ensures timely delivery. Exercises judgment and in-depth knowledge of new product development project requirements to make purchases consistent with specified levels of quality, delivery, and price.

+ Ensure requisitions, purchase orders and changes are input into system and documented in a timely manner in accordance with established procedures and legal requirements.


**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**


+ Bachelors degree required

+ Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience


**Nice to Have**


+ 5+ years experience Procurement, Sourcing, Engineering or Supply Chain Management

+ Project Management and Lean Six-Sigma methodologies, Certification from the Institute of Supply Management (C.P.S.M.), (CPIM) e-Sourcing Platform Ariba)

+ Excellent leadership, organization, project management, communication and negotiation skills

+ Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

+ Ability to manage multiple projects and teams
