And we are currently looking for a **_Statutory Accountant_** to join our Finance team for UK and Ireland.

**A Day in the Life**

This position will report to the UKI Controller and be an integral member of the UKI Controllers staff to ensure a strong, consistent control environment with accurate financial statements for purposes of USGAAP and Statutory reporting requirements.

This position will partner across the Medtronic Matrix (including UKI, regional teams, shared service center teams and BPOs) to deliver functional excellence. Further, the position will demonstrate a solid technical basis in partnering with the business and be able to concisely communicate with the business.

+ Active support and participation in the monthly and quarterly financial close process, ensuring the accuracy of the USGAAP and statutory financial statements.

+ Continuously improving processes with the SSC teams to ensure process sustainability and the integrity of USGAAP and statutory financial statements

+ Maintain a robust internal control environment and appropriate SOX controls in partnership with SSC/COE/BPO and in support of the external audit requirements

+ Responsibility for end to end process of certain local accounting activities

+ Analyse financial statements (PL/Balance Sheet) and oversight of reconciliation of accounts to ensure accuracy and adherence to USGAAP and statutory requirements

+ Support UKI Functional leaders in understanding and managing their fiscal results including partnering with the central teams in the FPA cycle

+ Strong understanding of local processes, able to backfill the UKI finance team during absences

+ Perform/Review/Advise certain accounting / reporting requirements including performing technical accounting research

+ Support and manage adhoc or special projects: mergers, divestiture, new business models, business model transformations.

+ Support the statutory requirements for UKI entities, including:

+ Critically review and support the translation into the local GAAP the country financials with all different statutory requirements

+ Support specific questions/sample testing from auditors as part of the statutory audit

+ Review the statutory reports and ensure audit compliance

+ Partner with the SSC team in the centralized account reconciliation in relation to the statutory gaap

+ Annual review/completion of Employee Recharge Matrix to ensure correct employee recharges

+ Responsible for other miscellaneous local reporting obligations e.g. Office of National Statistics

+ Annual review of controls to ensure full accounting accuracy (VAT reconciliations, revenue reconciliation, Payroll, etc.)

+ Annual review of tax control framework (including but not limited to UK SAO requirements) and ensure the accuracy of taxable income (deferred tax, temporary adjustments, permanent adjustments) and specific tax structure depending on the country

+ Responsible for the local tax reporting in collaboration with MDT International Tax department and the SSC to satisfy the monthly/quarterly requirements, including tax planning requirements (e.g. cash flow forecasting, dividends, etc.).

+ Gatekeeper for the external tax requirements (including reporting requirements, tax audits, etc.)

+ Drive continuous improvement in processes, including supporting UKI/EMEA initiatives (OTC, GTM. Finance Optimization, UKI Finance Improvement Initiatives)

**Must Haves**

+ Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance, Qualified OR Part Qualified accountant educated to degree level

+ 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting or finance with relevant experience

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Excel PowerPoint)

+ Strong understanding of US generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP)

+ Mastery or ability to master Relevant Statutory rules

**Nice to Haves**

+ Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with internal stakeholders

+ SAP experience is nice to have, Hyperion knowledge a plus

+ Agile and ability to multi-task and manage several tasks simultaneously while appropriately prioritizing

+ Interest in leveraging emerging technologies to support the continuous transformation in finance
